Fertigation systems have many benefits. They provide accurate injection which results in less waste of expensive fertilizers and chemicals and results in increased crop yields. Added to this benefit is a reduction in labour required to ensure adequate fertilization.

Helix Hydro staff are always happy to assist in ensuring that you purchase the correct pump for your requirements. Things that we will consider include the chemical type and amount to be injected, line pressure at the injection point and by which parameter the pump on off is to be controlled.

Helix Hydro have fertigation solutions including both single and 3 phase power sources. Additional options include 12VDC and options for when no power source is available.

Our pumps are suitable for most fertilisers, acids, alkalis, polymers, and water treatment chemicals. Material compatibility depends on the chemical concentration and temperature which can be determined by a chemical safety data sheet.

Yes, Helix Hydro staff are on hand to assist in completing a brief questionnaire on your current system requirements after which we can advise on which fertigation options will best integrate in your existing system.

Filtaworx Specific Questions

The key feature to Filtaworx performance and reliability is the use of the escaping backflush water to rotate the internal cleaning mechanism inside the filter vessel. No external motor mechanism or power is required, reducing the number of moving/wearing parts to a minimum.

The minimum pressure requirements to drive the filter are 200 + kPa @ 3-4 Lt/sec

A Normally Open (N.O.) Pressure Sustaining Valve either electric or hydraulic set to 200 kPa on the PSV pilot is installed to the downstream side of the filter.

In selecting the correct screen aperture the rule of thumb is it needs to be 1/3 the orifice you are trying to protect. Additionally you need to consider Total Suspended Solids, type of solids sand, algae paper fibre etc, water temperature and chemical content if applicable. As always are technical team are available to assist with any enquires.

The backwash line contains minimal pressure and as such there are a few things to consider. For drainpipes shorter than 5 meters a 50mm pipe is sufficient however if the pipe is longer the 5 meters then 80mm pipe is required. The exhaust drainpipe should be designed so that it creates minimal resistance. The water should be allowed to flow to atmosphere freely and must not run up hill.

The pressure differential across inlet and outlet of the screen is preset at 50kPa. This cannot be modified.

The Filtaworx Filter can be installed in any orientation ensuring there is enough clearance to extract the fine screen via the end cover. The cover lid can be rotated ensuring the back wash line needs is installed with the least possible restriction. A copy of a typical installation can be found on our technical documentation page.

Filtaworx filters our able to be operated without any power with the backwash function being driven by differential pressure across the dirty and clean screen sides. Should DC, single phase or 3 phase power be onsite then we can add an additional feature of a controller that is able to initiate the backwash function at predetermined time intervals in addition to the differential pressure method referenced above.

At Helix Hydro we specialise in providing real world filtration solutions.
