Challenge

The 11 Hectare development recently completed is the new training base for the A-League’s Western Sydney Wanderers, with 9 Football pitches, Academy facility including gymnasium, Offices and Media Centre in the Blacktown City Council area.

The facility will also support the W-League women’s and local academy teams.

Solution

Water supply is harvested storm water run-off that is collected and stored in a1.5ML underground tank.

The system consists of 2 x Triplex Lowara Pumpsets each with 3* 11Kw pumps, providing a flow rate of 21 L/sec at 650kPa each to irrigate the football fields via a Hunter fully automatic sprinkler system.

Filtration is 2 x Filtaworx® FW150EX-EL-80mesh supplied to Paul at Australian Turf Projects, filter controls supplied were Electric with backwashing programmed on Differential Pressure (50kPa) and the option of TIME via the Filtron 1-10 controller.

Screens supplied were 80mesh (200 micron) to provide excellent protection to the valves and sprinkler heads.

Each system operates independently but Matthew Wilson has designed a connection line between the two systems to assist in future maintenance or any issues that could arise that could prevent one system to operate.
